Anyone got their AP renewal approved? How long it is taking these days?
I applied for EAD and AP renewals concurrently on May 28th and sent following support docs for AP.
1. 2 photos.
2. old AP copy
3. I-485 copy
4. Passport biometric pages
5. EAD copy
FP appnt on June 23rd.
AP Approved e-mail on June 23rd.
My wife's Receipt was just 10 nos difference but she hasn't got it yet.

Hi Guys,
I am a July - 2007 filer and we got the FP request in July for me and my Spouse, I have not applied for any EAD or AP extensions recentlly, for a side note i have to travel out side US in July and my attorney requested for FP reschedule (which was actually scheduled in last week July) for atleast 6 to 8 weeks, but USCIS sent me the request with in a week with an FP date just 3 weeks apart from the original one..so i had to rush my things and had to come back to US to get the FP done..

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. And as always, just as 'valuablehurdle''s client (paying $180/hr) Indian govt. will pay double the cost. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. These desi uncles/orgs are going nuclear.... time for Rediff and India Abroad to play Oliver North. Sometimes the line between capitalism and cycle of corruption is extremely blur. The problem is, these desi uncles/orgs claim to be representatives of entire Indian-American community, sometimes the entire immigrant community. They don't know more than 100 people, but they claim to be the leaders of all 2.5 million indian americans. Wonder what I should do. After November no more Sch A numbers left, so what does that mean for people who've been able to file 485?
Filed I-140/485 with RD August 7th Sch A, EB 2. No movement on the I-140. Any suggestions? Should I seek premium processing?

These ppl are talking about giving amnesty to ILLEGALS...let me repeat it.. amnesty=award for being ILLEGAL. They have done that before and all of a sudden we F'KIN LEGAL TEMP WORKERS from India/China have to worry about the LEGAL aspect of filing a law-suit.

Ofcourse not, but why hell do they create a dual intent H1FU?K Visa where they show you the carrot and create a indentured servant system and discriminate on the basis of the country of your birth. $4000 sounds like a good deal for a Masters degree. Do you know which company hires people from Aspen though?
Come on.. we are not talking about hiring.. No company is waiting in line to hire anybody coming out from Aspen University with Masters Degree.
What we are talking here is whether One holding 3 yr bachelors Degree from India be eligible to apply under EB-2 category after completing Masters Degree from an accredited university.
If the PERM Job description says " Masters Degree"

Ronhia, I appreciate your comments. It needs conviction, dedication and consistent efforts to make such accomplishments. Moreover it also demonstrates the character of a person, who can motivate and inspire other kids in a positive way.. especially in an environment full of negative distractions.
If spelling bee competition is considered merely as just cramming the dictionary, as you rightly said we need to really spend some time looking beyond your own shell.
When you open a magazine, for sure, you tend to come across pages that may not be of interest to you. We skip the page and move on rather whining with words (yucky, stupid, senseless) that are inappropriate.
"Winning a national competition is not so great"... again it depends on what is so great to you !!!..

I'm went to the infopass website to make an appointment for interim EAD; I chose the "Washington Field Office" since I live in the DC Metro area. There are no appointments available in Aug and Sep!

So, if there are 400k pending applications and recapture can get us 215K, has anyone done some analysis on how the 215k will be divided among countries and categories?

I don't think any analysis is done. That is only going to divide the community.
Some would say preference be given to EB category benefiting EB2(I&C).
Some would say PD should be given preference predominantly benefiting EB3(I).
If they follow the current spill-over rules, as you are aware, EB category would be given preference.

Welcome back UN. One question. Does the USCIS have ability to check credit histroy.
Lots of things have changed since 9/11. Browse immigration.com for peoples postings over the last seven years and find some articles written by attornies and deportation cases.
Before your flight even takes off; the passenger manifest is sent to Department of Homeland Security. They run it against every database they have. Before, you land they already know whether you have a criminal record (expunged or not); you have a warrant or are on a terror watch list.
There were some high profile cases where department of homeland security received the information late and had the plane diverted to Canada and had passenger removed who was on such list. I even believe Cat Stevens was denied entry after his plane left England. I think the plane had to stop in Nova Scotia and they wouldn't let him back onto the plane.
I have known people who had shoplifting record in California that was expunged. When they went for visa stamping they answered that they hadn't been arrested (chennai consulate). Visa officer already had the information and confronted person with it. Person explained that since it was expunged; their criminal attorney told them they didn't need to declare such things. Person had to get the court/arrest records to show consulate (Person is on h-1b and has US citizen child (for what it's worth). Don't know if person was able to come back here.
In local office interviews; people have been asked if they have criminal record (I/O's basically ask every question again on 485 and g-325a; just to see if person is telling the truth (they already know the answer). Person replied no and USCIS officer stated that was not the information they had and confronted the person with the record.
Every time someone opens up a bank account, brokerage account, etc.; their name gets sent to Washington DC and checked against terrorist watch lists under the anti money laundering rules which I believe came into effect in 2002. Why is that relevant.

Another person I know; he had H-1b and was working for some motels (he specifically told me he did IT work and wasn't working as a clerk and the company was a holding company with many motels). His case was transferred to local office. Local office called him and stated they wanted him to come to office next day. When he went they asked him why he was listed as an account signatory on the motels bank account. They thought he wasn't doing h-1b work and was doing unauthorized work.
Both of the above cases I know intimately. They both got on radar of USCIS because of the anti money laundering rules and their names came up against the databases that USCIS checks and they decided to start further investigating.
This is one of the reasons that these background checks take so long. There is a lot more they do other then check to see if you are a terrorist.
